A lot has happened since The Avengers assembled for the first time on the big screen, and it all started 10 years ago today.
They say time files when you’re having fun, and the last ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe must have been a real blast as The Avengers celebrates its 10th anniversary today. As incredible as it is to believe it is now a decade since the Avengers team first assembled and in a post-credit scene the first seeds of where the saga would go were sewn with the on-screen appearance of Thanos. Today, the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo, shared a touching message on social media to celebrate the occasion and it is fair to say there were plenty of Marvel fans to add their own messages.
Opening on May 4, 2012, in the U.S., The Avengers, or Avengers Assemble as it was known in some territories, brought to an end Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a project that at the time had only been in production for four years and was still in its infancy. While the film brought together Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk for the first time, the green giant was played by Mark Ruffalo for the first time in that movie, with The Incredible Hulk solo movie having starred Edward Norton in the dual role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Now Ruffalo is returning once again in the upcoming She-Hulk series, and potentially in his own Hulk movie which is rumored to partly incorporate the World War Hulk storyline from the comic books. As an integral part of the franchise, it is no surprise that he wanted to celebrate The Avengers’ milestone birthday, and he said:
“#AvengersAssemble! Can you believe it’s been 10 years since the premiere?! What a true honor it has been to be a part of the MCU. Here’s to the future and more thrilling stories to be told!”

Jeremy Renner retweeted Ruffalo’s post, adding his own comment of “What a wild ride.” Like Ruffalo’s Hulk, Renner still has more to give to the MCU as Hawkeye, having just starred in his own series and being rumored to appear in the Echo spin-off show that is coming to Disney+ and recently kicked off filming.
What wild ride 🏹🏹🏹 @markruffalo https://t.co/526EGecJAK
